The World’s Premier Food Photography and Styling Conference and Exhibition

Food Photo Affair 2021!

As most of you know Food Photo Affair has been in the works since mid 2019 and it comes with a very heavy heart that FPA needs to cancel the entire conference.

This conference has been a passion of so many people involved, pulling together so many wonderful speakers and presenters. The decision to cancel was the most difficult choice ever. This decision affects so many people but with so little turn out there is no other alternative. The hope was the digital pass would bring in the numbers but this was not the case. The pandemic has thrown everyone curves and unfortunately it hit FPA hard. Many of you will have questions and the hope is to answer some of them here.

Attendee Numbers:
When FPA started back in June 2019 the predictions were 500-600 attendees but the expectation was never to be put through so much over two years. The original FPA date was November 2020 but with COVID the event was moved to April 2021 but with the slow rollout of the vaccine, the decision was made to postpone once more to November 2021.

FPA had an early bird sale back in late 2019 with little sales. At that point we though we were just too early with the early bird (12 months out). There were sales but not the numbers needed, mostly (all) due to COVID. Our total sales to date have only been 121 with 60 of those being speakers and staff.

Digital Access Pass:
Earlier this Summer the decision was made to develop a virtual version that included recording all of the workshops/panels and offering live conference content. This was advertised worldwide over a couple months and staged as a flash sale on October 26th. Along with all the FB, IG and LinkedIN ads, posts, etc. FPA also hired two influencers to get the word out. With all that marketing FPA only sold 50 passes.

Your hotel and flights:
The hotel cancellation policy is 3 days prior to checkin but those that reserved through the site would have already received an email from The Meritage canceling your resevation. Many airlines are offering cancelations giving you credit on a future flight. I hope all of you are able to take advantage of that.

Conference Passes:
FPA is evaluating what options there are moving forward. As soon as FPA is able the information we will pass it along.
